LAB is where my projects begin: a shared foundation on which a new trial can run the same day. Plus one rule that makes the difference: whatever grows up moves out — with everything that belongs to it.

Why a greenhouse
Anyone who starts new things often knows the tax on every start: access, user management, data, scaffolding. Two or three weeks before anything yields insight — and those weeks decide whether an idea ever gets tried at all or stays in the drawer.
LAB pays that tax exactly once. After that a new trial is a matter of hours. Seven are running there in parallel right now, from a card-based workspace to a data tool.
Moving out, planned from the start
The most important property is the exit: a project can leave LAB without starting over — with its data and its history. imagelab moved out exactly that way, and two others have taken the same route.
The greenhouse isn't a terminus, it's a nursery. What holds up gets out; what doesn't costs nothing but the time of the trial.
The real compound interest
The biggest return isn't in the code, it's in the notes: how something reliably goes live, which routes we've already taken wrongly, what has proven itself. That knowledge makes every next project faster — and it's why a workshop becomes more over time than a collection of one-offs.
